professional trainings & community outreach
As part of our mission, ASTT regularly trains professionals in the fields of health, social service, law and education to focus on the identification and treatment of torture survivors. ASTT also provides in-house training by staff to psychology interns and volunteer therapists to give them the clinical skill and cultural competence to provide treatment to survivors at ASTT and in their future work settings.
ASTT is also active in its efforts to increase awareness in the local community. ASTT frequently gives presentations to community and faith-based groups regarding the strengths and needs of torture survivors living in the Baltimore/DC area. Events range from speaking engagements to staffing an information table at a larger community event.
